This is a hands-on introductory workshop on the technique of drawing portraits with graphite pencils. U
nder the guidance of visual artist Kakim Goh, participants will learn to draw by experimenting with materials and exploring the interplay of line and tonal gradations. The workshop begins with a description of drawing materials, an explanation of the use of line and tone in drawing, a presentation of historical drawings and an overview of the basic structure of the human head. This will be followed by a drawing session that gives participants the unique opportunity to create portraits from live models.
