"Anagramme d'une chaise" is a thematic-based group exhibition presenting new works by fifty-three visual artists working in painting, photography, sculpture, installation, video and digital arts. The show is curated by Louise Viger and presented by la Maison de la culture du Plateau-Mont-Royal.
After 25 years of faithful service to thousands of spectators and artists, the old chairs of the theatre space in la Maison de la culture du Plateau-Mont-Royal were being retired and replaced by new seating. To mark this occasion, la Maison de la culture du Plateau-Mont-Royal selected artists who had formerly exhibited in its gallery during the past 25 years to use, recycle and transform these chairs into works of art.
Kakim Goh created a large-scale painting installation entitled "Vissi d'arte" specifically for the show. Conceived as an homage to the performing arts, the artwork was inspired by “Vissi d’arte” - a soprano aria from Act II of Giacomo Puccini’s opera “Tosca”. “Vissi d’arte” translates from Italian as “I lived for art”.
